About my art

Early in life, I decided that when I retired, I would take up painting. My first painting was Morning Glory, the blue flowers in watercolour, followed by Nasturtiums. That was about seven years ago, and I enjoyed it enough to keep going.

As a child, I had been good at drawing, so I decided to see whether I still had a talent for it. I drew Post war children's cricket and was immediately hooked. I soon found myself drawn to architecture, particularly the character of old streets, the light from street lamps and the textures of walls.

Each drawing brings its own challenges and frustrations, but that is part of the pleasure. I love working on the intricate details that bring a scene to life and make it feel real.

‘Drawings that take you there’ is how I describe my work, and I hope they do.
